Phi Gamma Nu was originally founded on February 17, 1924 at the Chicago campus of Northwestern University. The original founder members were Sylvia Pekar Arnold, Elizabeth Conroy Fleming, Marge McInerney Hawes, Mary Chard Nalbach, Helen Vogel Purcell, and Celeste Weyl.

Founded on February 17, 1924 by six extraordinary women at the Chicago campus of Northwestern University, Phi Gamma Nu has since then grown to be a nation-wide organization with a distinction in professional achievement and drive for excellence.

The original organization was founded on the Three National Pillars of Professionalism, Philanthropy, and Community. Each pillar represents the field in which every member hopes to participate and excel. Since Phi Gamma Nu became a co-educational fraternity in 1974, it has become an influential entity on many college campuses. While the composition and standing of the fraternity had changed over history, the organization is still dedicated to the Three Pillars that form the goals and ideals of Phi Gamma Nu:

• Professional – Promote interest and organize activities in the field of business - requires dedication to professional behavior and a strong sense of ethics.
• Philanthropy – Service to the local and national communities - requires a strong sense of responsibility and the willingness to bring the best service to others.
• Social – Maintain a strong sense of brotherhood and interest in university activities – requires an honest approach to each individual and the readiness to embrace every brother with loyalty and love.

The initiative to establish the Delta Omicron Chapter of Phi Gamma Nu was conceived by five Original Founders: Ji Young Choi, Ekaterina Munina, Anna Chan, Drew Conklin, and Yoon Kim. The chapter was officially inducted into the National Organization on April 5th, 2008.
